One of the main advantages of using this type of base is its ease of use. It is already in a solid form so you don’t need to handle lye or got through the saponification process that is required for making soap from scratch. You simply melt the soap base and customize it as desired before pouring it into your mold.
Glycerin is a natural byproduct of the soapmaking process. Melt and pour clear glycerin soap retains a high percentage of glycerin, which is a humectant, so it attracts moisture from the air, helping to keep your skin hydrated.

Glycerin, Water (Aqua/Eau), Sodium Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Sodium Laurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate
- Remove soap from storage container and protect your work area before cutting.
- Heat desired amount in microwave (30 seconds on high and then 10-second intervals until melted).
- Add your favorite color and fragrance.
- Pour into the mold and let cool (at least 40 minutes).
- Apply gentle pressure to back of mold to release.
CAUTION: Melted soap is hot!
